Not my usual colors.....

When picking out papers for my cards, my hand usually moved towards the browns, the reds, oranges and so on...And if I really want to go out on a limb, I go for the blues and greens. But I have rarely, if ever, chosen this yellow-gray combination. To tell you the truth, I have been a bit scared of making a disaster of a card. So when The friday mash-up blog presented this color-combo, I decided to try it out. After all, we weathered Sandy, what is a little color-combo challenge in comparison??? Post-Sandy humor, I guess :)
So over at the Friday Mashup blog, the challenge was to create a card using the colors in the inspiration picture and dry-embossing.

 And here is my interpretation

Well, the card does fulfill all the requirements. The papers are from a DCWV stack that I bought a gazillion years ago but have never been able to use it. So that's great. For the design of the card, I used the sketch provided at the Cute Card Thursday Challenge Blog
The image is one of my favorites, Magnolia Tilda. I love all Tilda stamps and every time they release new stamps, they are better than before. Such creativity :)....
The inside of the card is covered in the same paper.

The sentiment is handwritten and completely my own.....I kept it non-thematic thinking I can use it either as a Birthday card ( most likely) or as a New Year Card, especially for those who do not celebrated Christmas.

Submitting the card for the following challenges
The Friday MashUp Blog

Cute Card Thursday Blog

Crafty Cardmakers challenge  - where the challenge was to use more than one die or punch on the card.
I used two Spellbinders dies - one on the outside and the oval die in the inside for the sentiments...

Everybody Art Challenge  where the challenge was to use embossing. The circle on the front of the card has been embossed. I distressed the circle using the Tim Holtz ink and then embossed it and added liquid pearls in the end, for an added dimension.
